Our exhibition of new collage and mixed media work by Morag Archer opens on Monday 23 May. The opening evening event starts at 6pm — all welcome for art, conversation, refreshments and of course bakery bites. Pop in on Saturday the 28th to see Morag demonstrate stitched collage and papier mache tile making. Follow us on Facebook for more updates.
Morag has produced over 40 new pieces of work for the exhibition, and has atiny sneakpeek on her blog: “I think the name ‘Pieces of Skye’ sums up very well the way I work, using small pieces of often found papers, sewing them and gluing them to create my artwork. Some on canvas using torn paper and paint, other stitched pieces, stitched on collaged cloth paper. There are some new things too!”
The year ahead holds an assortment of exhibitions, introductions to new artist and makers and the opening of the back of the gallery to create a dedicated clothing shop with a change room.
While all dates are yet to be confirmed, this is a general peek at what is on the line up.
Easter weekend: New clothing labels and ranges will grace the rails. Including Masai Clothing, Nomads Clothing, Braintree, Bohemia, and Heart. We also stock our own label merino wool ranges, and Marigold Clothing, designed and hand stitched in Achmore.

Old Pier Gallery, our baby gallery in Broadford, reopens on 14 March.
We’ve been planning and reorganizing, getting the gallery ready for Christmas shopping (not to forget all those with birthdays in the holiday season!). We’ll be open all the way to New Year (except Sundays, as usual, and 25/26 December).
In answer to the question, yes we do indeed have buttons as well as wool and Harris tweed. Lots of buttons. Big buttons, small buttons, plain buttons, decorated buttons, patterned buttons and shaped buttons. For sale individually, or in a small grab-bag of mixed buttons.
